Dave Koch
Dave Koch , Executive Director

Alta Walk is pleased to have Mr. Dave Koch leading the way for us, as our Executive Director.  He brings a wealth of knowledge to our team, serving for the past 15 years as the CEO/President of American Human Services, Inc.  AHS provides full service residential care to special needs adults and children throughout NC.  Previously, he was the Vice-President for Corporate Services with Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas for 12 years.  In his free time, he enjoys being a member of three different area brass bands and serving on several different boards including the Miracle League of the Triangle and the External Relations Committee of Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina.  Dave’s wife Lisa is a hospital chaplain at Wake Med in Cary and they have 2 adult children and 2 school aged children.  We are so fortunate to have Dave as our Executive Director and leader.

 
Sean Yule
Sean Yule , Director of Resident Services

Sean Yule has been promoted to our Director of Resident Services, a new position here at Alta Walk.  He has a passion for helping our residents maintain their independence in a total wellness approach that nurtures the mind, body and spirit.  Sean will oversee our Graduated Care System, coordinating services and support through our on site Rehab Center, our Independence Plus Level of Care and our Assisted Living and Memory Care Community.  Sean attended Kent State University and has a degree in Business Administration.  He is excited about his new role as Director of Resident Services for Alta Walk and looks forward to helping our residents maintain healthy and happy lives.  Sean enjoys his home life with his wife of 12 yrs and their two girls, ages nine and five.

 
Kimberly Monroe
Kimberly Monroe , Business Office Manager

Kimberly Monroe became our new Business Office Manager on August 23rd.  She was previously the Business Office Manager at another Bell Senior Living Community, "The Landing," located in Wilson, NC.  Prior to entering the senior living industry, Kimberly was the Office Manager for Amerilife and Health Services, a life and health insurance marketing firm.  She also worked for United Airlines in customer and community relations.  Kimberly will bring valuable business management experience to our community at Alta Walk.  Her experience and customer services skills will provide a wonderful addition to our management team.

 
Laura Martin
Laura Martin , Director of Sales and Marketing

Laura Martin has been leading the sales efforts for Alta Walk since our leasing office opened on November 1, 2008, with now only a few vacancies left!  The response from the community has been amazing with Alta Walk nearing 100% occupancy faster than the team ever expected!   A veteran of the senior industry, Laura has over 17 years of trusted experience in helping residents and their families make important long term decisions in senior living.  Laura lives in Durham and in her time away from work, she enjoys chasing after her 4 and 6-year-olds, being on the water and being involved with her church. We feel extremely fortunate to have Laura and her invaluable years of experience on our Alta Walk Team!

 
Barbara Taylor
Barbara Taylor , Receptionist

Barbara Taylor joined the Alta Walk Team in March of 2009, as our Receptionist.  She has an extensive background in Human Resources, and it is so apparent as she loves meeting and helping people.  Barbara is the smiling face on the other end of the phone when you call us, and is always willing and eager to help you when you walk through our door.  She has lived in Durham for many years, and has two adorable grandchildren which are the light of her life!  We are so excited to have Barbara as our team member!

 
David Smith
David Smith , Director of Food & Beverage

We are so fortunate to have David Smith as our Director of Food and Beverage.  He is a graduate of Johnson Wales University and has over 10 years of experience in the finest of dining!  David is married and has a beautiful 3-year-old daughter.  They live in Raleigh and enjoy swimming and being involved in their local church.  David is excited about bringing new and dynamic dining experiences to the residents of Alta Walk.

 
Melinda  Kizer
Melinda Kizer , Director of Activities, IL

At the end of March, the Activities Department welcomed it’s newest team member, Melinda "Mindy" Kizer.  Melinda was born and raised in a little town in Pennsylvania.  She attended college in Corning, NY where she received an Associate Degree in Human Services.  Melinda has a true passion for working with seniors and brings a wealth of experience to the Alta Walk Activities Department.  She is thrilled to be a part of the Alta Walk team and looks forward to meeting everyone!

 
Denise Letourneau
Denise Letourneau , Assistant Director of Activities, IL

Denise comes to us with a wealth of experience and accomplishments, and we are so fortunate to have her join the Alta Walk team!  She has a degree in Social Services from the University of Maine and soon became the Executive Director of a program called Compeer, Inc. which provided a community based volunteer health program for people with mental illness.  She then went on to become the Activities Coordinator for a continuing care community on the coast of Maine for a period of one year, gaining valuable activity experience as well as a love of working with senior adults.  In between raising 3 children, she provided office and business management services for various companies, but soon returned to her first love of working with seniors as the Program Coordinator and then Director of Community Way Adult Day Services in Durham, a program of the Council for Senior Citizens.  She was there for 6 years before working in the Dining area of a local retirement community, which gave her valuable insight into providing great food service and throwing fabulous parties!  Look out, the best is yet to come!

 
Emily Abbott
Emily Abbott , Activities Coordinator for Assisted Living

Emily is the Activities Coordinator for Assisted Living and began in February 2010.  However, Emily first joined the Alta Walk staff in September of 2009 as the Activities Assistant for Independent Living.  Emily graduated in May of 2009 from Elon University with a degree in Human Services.  It was through her internship opportunities that she realized her passion for working with older adults.  She learned the value and importance of activities and the difference it can make for residents - mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  When not at work, Emily enjoys spending time with her friends and family.  Emily lives in Raleigh and loves going to different places in the city.  As Activities Coordinator, her door is open and she wants to get to know the residents and their families.  Please make sure if you come visit you stop by her office.

 
John Brissey
John Brissey , Director of Maintenance

John serves as the Director of Maintenance for Alta Walk.  He is a native of South Carolina and seved in the U.S. Navy.

John is a graduate of Guilford Technical College and holds several certifications in the construction and business fields.  He has the longest tenure of the Alta Walk team.  John has extensive experience in maintenance and customer service within the Health Care industry and has travelled to many Bell Senior Living communities to assist with the "start up" of new properties.

With the expertise that John brings, we are very fortunate to have him on our team.
